This is my first attempt at blogging on my new 64-gig wifi iPad and I'm using the keyboard dock that just arrived by UPS. So far, I'm finding the iPad to be everything I expected and more. Having used an iPod Touch and a MacBook Pro the past year, after twenty years of exclusive PC use, I find the change to the iPad to be relatively easy.
The first thing I had to do was download a number of apps I need to be productive and keep up with the latest news. Most of the apps are free but I did purchase Pages and a couple of other lower-priced apps. I'm trying different versions of Twitter clients to see which one works best on this platform. With my laptop, I'm hooked on Tweetdeck but the iPad (and iPod) version doesn't include a Facebook client. Hopefully that will change.
The Safari browser is not my favorite as I'm using Google Chrome on my MacBook, but it is relatively fast and easy to use. Facebook doesn't have an iPad app as of yet so I'm using Safari to access it as well as my Protopage RSS reader. One problem is the inability to scroll within boxes on the screen. Others have already sounded their concerns and hopefully there'll be a fix down the road.
I'm not all that impressed with Apple's iBook feature and thankfully, Kindle came out with an app right away. I have a number of Kindle books and I love the fact it is easy on my eyes and can synch between all my platforms. That way, I can pick up where I left off with any of my digital devices.
I'll be adding to this blog as I try out various features. I'll get a chance to take it on the road this weekend during a business trip to Chicago. Get back to you soon.
